Refugees regular information

More than one million refugees have arrived to Europe by Sea in 2015 getting away from Syrian War.
The Syrian refugees have been the biggest human crisis since the Second World War. Thousands of people try to get away in order to find safety.
Most of them arrived by sea. However, some migrants have made their way over land (Turkey-Albania)

The war in Syria to be the main reason of this migration. Even though the violence in some countries such as Afghanistan or  Iraq and the outrage in Eritrea  is another cause.

However, not all of them claim asylum. Germany is the European country with the highest number of new asylum applications in 2015 (more than 500.000)

In 2015, more than 1.000.000 refugees applied for asylum. However, European countries offered asylum to only 292,540 refugees.

UK decision was not to create a quota system but a thousand Syrian refugees were relocated under the Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme in 2015. Prime Minister also said that its country will welcome about 20,000 Syrian Refugees in the next five years.

One of the ideas of EU in September was to relocate 160.000 refugees. Although nowadays this plan apply to those who are living in Italy or in Greece. 54,000 of them were forced to move to Hungary but its government rejected it.
